RE and Philosophy at Stoke High School equips all students with knowledge of both religious and non-religious worldviews to allow all students to develop their ideas, values, and identities. Students acquire specialist vocabulary to explore and respond to a range of religious, philosophical, and theological debates respectfully. By supporting all students to develop religious literacy, this curriculum will prepare students to have the ability to critically analyse and interpret beliefs and teachings.
Students will develop the skills required to construct balanced arguments, understand a range of views, and make well-informed judgements to make sense of the complex world around them. The vision of this knowledge rich curriculum is to promote respect, by giving all students the aptitude for evaluating and interpreting sources of evidence to allow students to make sense of the world in which they live, and achieve their full potential and effectively prepare them for life in modern Britain.
